Ways To Connect With Loved Ones and Your Community

Connection is one of the most important things in our lives. It gives us a sense of belonging, support, and love. There are many ways to connect with loved ones and your community.

Here are 7 ways to make every day better by connecting with loved ones and your community:

1. Send a handwritten letter or card.

Social media has really ruined how we, as humans, communicate with each other. Handwritten letters or cards are almost null and void in today’s digital world. There's something special about getting a physical letter in the mail. It feels personal and intimate, like the sender has taken the time to sit down and really think about what they want to say. A handwritten letter is a great way to connect with a loved one who lives far away, or to let someone know you're thinking of them.

2. Have a catch-up phone call or video chat.

When you can't be together in person, a phone call or video chat is the next best thing. You can catch up on all the latest news, and happenings in each other's lives. You can also just spend some time chatting and laughing together. This is a great way to connect with loved ones who you don't get to see very often.

3. Attend or host a social event.

Parties, gatherings, and other social events are a great way to connect with loved ones and your community. They provide a chance to have fun and relax together. They also give you an opportunity to meet new people and make new friends.

4. Volunteer your time.

Giving back to your community is a great way to connect with others. It feels good to know that you're helping to make a difference in the world. And, you never know, you might just meet some amazing people along the way. Here at Revive we have many volunteer opportunities – just ask one of us here at the center!

5. Visit a friend or family member in person.

There's nothing like spending time together in person. If you have the opportunity to visit a friend or family member, take it! You'll get to catch up on all the little details of each other's lives and create lasting memories together.

6. Join a club or group.

Joining a club or group is a great way to connect with people who share your interests. Whether it's a book club, gardening club, or wellness group, you'll make new friends and deepen your existing relationships.

You'll be astounded at how much better each day can be when you commit to adding a little joy to your life. Give it a try and feel free to share your own experiences!
